Wyatt had his Shriner's appt. yesterday (hope I say all this correctly)
and they are going to put him in a cast within the month. That also
means surgery to lenghten his muscle so he can have the cast. His bone
is doing its disintegrating thing like it should, but the doctor really wants
him off his leg from now on. Him walking so much didn't do any
damage, but the bone is almost gone now (still has small spots left-This is
how it should be, it's at the correct stage of the disease) so he cannot
walk anymore. And the best way to do that, is to have the cast on. It will
be on for 6 weeks and then after that, he will get braces. When he does have
the surgery-he will stay over night at least one night. He is allowed to have
visitors while he is there, and one parent to stay the night with him. His doctor
at Shriner's will be leaving soon, so now is a good time for this. He is the best in
this disease (Legge Perthes Disease) so we want him to be the one to do the surgery.
I'm not sure where he is going and if he is ever coming back.
The nurse just said he is leaving. Wyatt wants everyone to come visit him
if they can. It will be at the Tampa Shriner's by USF-Bruce B-Downs/Fowler.
We have to get in all the swimming we can before they call us
with the appointment. Anyhow, just wanted to give you the info on the appt.
If you have any questions just give me a holla. He of course is not very happy. He
started crying after they said it. Hopefully it will be done before school starts.
Don't want to miss the beginning of school. My last day of summer school (his too)
is this Friday and school starts back on August 18th (I think that is the day). I have
to go to work one day during the week of 11-15. Other than that-we are off for the rest
of what little bit of summer we have. Please keep Mr. Wyatt in your thoughts and prayers.
He is so tired of being in this chair and this "disease". Legge Perthes Disease if you want
to look it up. Thanks everyone.
